Gift In Memory of Effie Bain

This fall 2025, the Foundation was the recipient of a generous donation of $33,783.72 from the estate of the late Euphemia (Effie) Bain (1912-2009).

A teacher and Mount Allison University alumna (1932), Effie moved to Baddeck in 1952 with her husband, the late Roddie Bain. She was an active community member, involved in numerous organizations. She was an avid local historian who compiled a History of Baddeck, becoming a published author at age 96. She was remembered as a humble lady with a wonderfully dry Scottish wit, and a devoted community member. (Kat MacAulay, Mount Allison Record, Fall 2008).
